Aim
  • To develop a commercialisation strategy for a government-subsidised clean technology business incubator

Scope
  • Our client supported early stage clean technology companies, providing them with financial assistance as well as technical and business support
  • Cairneagle’s mission was to create an improved business model, which would increase the breadth and depth of support given to start-ups, and also allow for additional sources of funding
  • A range of criteria were assessed, including different funding options, business partners, and services; and Cairneagle carried out an extensive review of competing incubator models
  • Research was carried out to determine the needs of the key stakeholders (investors, start-ups and corporates) and how the incubator could best fulfil these needs

Outcome
  • Cairneagle produced a blue print for how the incubator should develop in the future
  • Over half of the companies that have been incubators have subsequently received VC funding or have floated
