Strategy review for a UK healthcare company
Aim
- To carry out a strategic review of a leading healthcare company and develop an operational improvement and business development plan
Scope
- Our client, which provides flexible staff to the healthcare sector, required a strategy to help it prioritise where future investment and resource should be channeled, and the returns that could be expected
- In order to create a context for the corporate strategy, Cairneagle modeled the industry profit pool, which forecasted revenue and margins for each market segment. This involved intensive market research and pricing analysis
- A competitor benchmarking programme was carried out to determine our client’s core sustainable competencies, segment attractiveness, and profitability benchmarks
Outcome
- Cairneagle created a business development plan to focus on the areas of strategic importance, and to develop new product offerings to target these key markets
- We used the four-year revenue and profit forecast to set the long term incentive plan for the senior executives
- We worked with the client to develop a process improvement plan aimed at dramatically turning around the efficiency and quality of critical internal functions
- We wrote an investor presentation to communicate the new corporate strategy to the financial community
