Creating a new exchange

Aim
  • To reposition an underperforming company by launching a new exchange model in the securities finance markets

Scope
  • A small stock borrowing and lending technology company needed to re-think its strategy
  • Cairneagle worked with the company to develop the idea of creating an exchange-traded platform in stock borrowing and lending supported by central counter party clearing
  • Over a period of twelve months we supported the detailed business planning and operational design of the new exchange. This involved market analysis and applying deep securities industry expertise to resolve the operational complexity of the new platform

Outcome
  • The exchange was successfully launched to the first market in France in Summer 2009
